Abraspungo Trek

The Abraspungo region is located in the south of the country, and embraces some of the most beautiful, and in case of the Tungurahua, most active volcanoes in Ecuador. Throughout the trip you can enjoy impressive views on the mountains and after crossing the Abraspungo valley, you will attempt to summit Carihuayrazo from where you will have a marvelous view of Chimborazo, the king of the Andes. 

Chimborazo

Chimborazo was considered for a long time to be the highest mountain of the world, and when measured from the center of the world, it maintains that distinction.  Chimborazo is the highest peak in Ecuador and surely one of the most demanding climbs.  Attempts to summit Chimborazo can be made all year round.  Chimborazo was first climbed in 1880 and the impressive shape of this extinct volcano still attracts numerous climbers.

Cotopaxi Summit

Cotopaxi is the most popular mountain in South America due to its distinct beauty.  The mountain is characterized by relatively stable weather conditions, which makes it accessible all year round. The summit is famous for it’s perfect cone shape, from where there is a fabulous view of the crater, with a diameter of 800 m. The climb is considered to be technical, because of the ice equipment needed and its significant height. You will be amazed by its impressive glacier.

Altar Trek

The semicircular shape of the Altar with the famous crater lake, Laguna Amarilla, in its center offers spectacular views while hiking. In the so-called Collanes plain, you will find untouched nature and, of course, an incredible view on the volcano itself, which continues to offer new routes to climb.

Cayambe

Cayambe is located 65 kilometers northeast of Quito and is composed of several peaks, with the highest peak situated at the center of the mountain. Cayambe is distinct because it contains the highest point on earth through which the equator passes at exactly at a height of 4530 m near the south flank.

Corazón

Corazon is yet another eroded and extinct volcano located 40km southwest of Quito. It is an easy hike trough the paramo vegetation and is perfect for acclimatization as well as for people who simply want to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Cotopaxi and its neighboring mountains with the valley below.

Iliniza North

Twenty years ago this was a glacial peak. In the early accounts of this mountain the climbers describe a technical ascent over heavy glaciation. Today the glaciers have completely disappeared, however in the first half of the year this peak still receives a covering of snow.

Imbabura

The Imbabura Volcano is situated Northeast of Otavalo and the gorgeous lake of San Pablo. Two routes approaching from difference sides of the mountain are usually followed. The normal route is not difficult. No formal mountain climbing experience is necessary, although the climber has to be in good shape to reach the top.
